Dr. Kevin McGowan from the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology was the keynote speaker for 2007 CrowFest. McGowan has been studying the reproductive and social behavior of American crows since 1988 and is often called upon by news organizations to comment on urban crow populations. His talk, held in the Science Building on Friday, Jan 12, 2007, was entitled “The Uncommon Crow: The Hidden Life of a Familiar Bird,” and the presentation touched on some of the unusual social behaviors that make crows so interesting.
