Indiana State University conducted its 2006 Winter Commencement on Saturday, Dec. 16, at Hulman Center. About 620 students were eligible for undergraduate degrees; with about 244 eligible for advanced degrees, including master’s and doctoral. Two graduates, having achieved a 4.0 grade-point average, received Hines Memorial Medals for outstanding academic achievement. Both award recipients happen to be education majors. They are Carol Ann Geiger Roberts of New Lebanon, and Kathy Marie Sykes of Fillmore. The commencement speaker was Melissa A. Wolter of Marshall, Ill.; and the recipient of the President’s Medal for Leadership, Scholarship and Service was Jessica Louise Bush of Boone Grove. ISU also conferred an Honorary Doctor of Law degree upon Alvaro Romo de la Rosa, associate vice president for programs, services and international affairs of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, as part of commencement ceremonies.
